We all are aware about the world's tallest statue 'Statue of Unity' which was inaugurated ast year by PM Narendra Modi. Located on a river island in Gujarat's Narmada district, the statue is a tribute to Independence activist and first home minister of independent India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Ever since its inauguration, the statue has been pulling huge crowds to its place, and reportedly around 10,000 tourists visit the statue every day.
If you're planning to visit the 'Statue of Unity', then here is some good news for you. As per the latest update, you can enjoy homestays around the iconic statue soon. The administration of Narmada district is planning to introduce homestay facility for tourists visiting the world’s tallest statue, located in Kevadia Colony.
District Development Officer, Jimcy Williams said that a total of 116 houses have been identified in 22 villages around the 'Statue of Unity', where 252 rooms will be refurbished as homestay accommodations for the tourists with all facilities. The houses were shortlisted based on whether they are pucca houses and if there is any extra room in the house that can be utilised for the purpose.
