Today, on the occasion of Lord Hanuman Jayanti, we EeYuva have come up with a place where Lord Hanuman did penance for Lord Rama and to your surprise it is located in our Hyderabad – It is the Karmanghat Dhyana Hanuman Temple.
History Of The Temple
Nestled in the heart of Kharmanghat, Hyderabad and is very near to Sagar Road. Karmanghat Hanuman temple is one of the ancient temples of the state which dates back to 400 years ago. According to the historians, the temple was built by a Kakatiya ruler in the 12th century A.D.
According to a legend, years ago this locale was a thick forest and once a Kakatiya ruler visited this place to hunt the wild animals. Later, he felt very tired and sat down under a tree for relaxation. After a few hours, the king heard someone's voice who was chanting the name of Lord Sri Rama. He eagerly, searched for him and in the dense forest, he found an idol of Lord Hanuman in a sitting posture. He came to know that the sound was coming from the idol. He prayed to the lord and returned to his kingdom. Later, in a celestial dream, Lord Hanuman ordered the king to construct a temple at that place. Within a span of time, the king built a temple at the present place and is worshipped since 400 years.
Did Aurangzeb Demolished This Temple Too?
As we all know that Aurangzeb ordered his people to demolish all the Hindu temples in the country and many magnificent temples were demolished too. In the same way, Aurangzeb armies tried to destroy Karmanghat Hanuman temple but failed. The soldiers were not able to step into the temple premises as well and they informed the same to their king, Aurangzeb. A legend says that the king visited the temple to demolish the temple with his own hands. But he heard a heavenly voice which says that 'Mandir todna hai raja, tho 'kar man ghat'' which means 'Oh king! to destroy the temple make your heart strong.
Now one can see the idol of Lord Hanuman in the inner sanctum in a sitting posture and locals worship the Lord in the name of Dhyana Anjaneya Swamy.
