Italy’s wedding tourism witnessed a good growth in 2018 with over 8,700 events held for an estimated turnover of € 500.1 million.
The study was conducted by Centro Studi Turistici di Firenze on behalf of Convention Bureau Italia. The data were obtained from the analysis of more than 1,600 questionnaires and telephonic interviews directed at operators in the sector.
According to 2018 data, 8,791 foreign weddings were celebrated in Italy that generated over 4,36,000 arrivals. Foreign couples mainly came from the United Kingdom (28.1%), the USA (21.9%), Australia (9.4%), Germany (5.5%) and Canada (4.5%). The regions preferred were Tuscany (30.9%), followed by Lombardy, Campania, Veneto and Lazio.
The destination weddings are expected to increase further this year, and some emerging markets are likely to grow strongly in terms of turnover, especially from the United Arab Emirates and the Far East.
