Mughal Emperor Jahangir built this garden as a symbol of love for his beloved wife Nur Jahan, and the word ‘Shalimar’ represents the same, which means ‘Abode of Love’. The garden is nestled on the banks of the Dal Lake and has lush green terraced lawns, fountains, pools, flower beds and rows upon rows of chinar trees and pavilions.
Mughal Gardens are known for their exceptional beauty due to spectacular mountainous surroundings. The presence of different varieties of trees, fruits, flowers, colorful wild grass, and birds peeping around, make the gardens a very relaxing spot for the tourists. One of the main attractions of the gardens is the running water and a pool that would reflect the splendor of the sky and the garden.
Dal Lake in Srinagar is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Kashmir valley. Its exceptional charm and exquisite surroundings will attract the tourists from all over the world.
