The very powerful deity out of all Hindu God's is Lord Shiva. Whatever may be the reason Lord Shiva has occupied a tremendous place in every Hindu's heart. Lord Shiva in the form of Linga is observed in Amarnath Cave or Amarnath Temple which is located in Jammu and Kashmir, India. This temple has got a lot of significance as it is treated as a very powerful and devotional place.

In this temple or cave Lord Shiva is appeared in the form of Ice Lingam. The cave in which this lingam is located is surrounded by extreme snow because of its freezing temperature. It is believed that this is the place where Lord Shiva explained the secret of life and eternity to his wife Parvati.



There are many references associated with this temple history. According to some legends, it is that, while some years ago Jammu and Kashmir was submerged under water and Kashyap Muni drained it through series of rivers and then he is the first one to have darshan of Lord Shiva in the form of Lingam in Amarnath Cave.

How Does This Yatra Commence???

Actually, this lingam is an iced stalagmite which is formed under the 130ft Amarnath Cave. It is considered to be the Shiva Lingam by Hindu pilgrims and thus considered this location as the sacred Hindu pilgrimage site. This is one such devotional site which can be reached by trekking. This trek starts from Nunwan and Chandanwari base camp at Pahalgam and reaches the cave after simultaneous halts at Sheshang Lake and Panchtarni Camps.

How To Reach This Temple???


Basically, there are two routes to reach Amarnath. One is from Pahalgam and another is from Baltal. Amarnath via Baltal is the shortest route of 14 Km. Helicopter service is also available to the people who are short in time. Pahalgam is 47 Km away from the cave and people reach the cave enjoying the climate of Jammu and Kashmir. People hire taxis, one can travel through the foot and also through horses.

A perfect health check-up is done before you reach this place. Fit heath is required to reach this location.

So, according to some news agency, it is recorded that 11,000 pilgrims have made their presence at the Amarnath Yatra till date. Hurry up and visit this devotional place to get that mere blessing from Lord Shiva.
