Jharani Narasimha Cave Temple…

It is called a 'cave temple' because the idol of Lord Narasimha is situated in a cave. This cave is filled with a continuous flow of water and also for your surprise bats can be seen hanging and flying throughout the cave.

And, till date, no one has been harmed with those bats.

History…

According to legends, it is believed that Lord Narasimha comes out from a pillar and kills Hiranyakashipu, a demon king for continuously torturing Prahallad (Son of Hiranyakashipu). After rescuing Prahallad, Lord Narasimha reached this cave to take some rest. There he killed Jalasura (another demon), who is a devotee of Lord Shiva. As per Jalasura's last wish, Lord Narasimha started living in this cave. This idol of Lord Narasimha is the cave is said to be self-manifested.

Importance Of Flowing Water…

After killed by Lord Narasimha, Jalasura transformed himself into the water and started flowing under the feet of Lord Narasimha idol. This water flows continuously even in the heavy summer season. And, people believe that this water has the healing power of skin diseases as it has sulphur in it. People reach the ultimate idol after walking through the water-filled cave in which the level of water is up to 4-5 feet.

Yes, of course, imagine yourself walking in a cave full of water which as flying bats in the cave. OMG!!! It's quite adventurous and thrilling. Kids will be carried on elders shoulders and people reach the Lord Narasimha sanctum by chanting mantras like 'Govinda...Govinda'…

Narasimha Swamy…

This god is the fourth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Narasimha is half lion and half human. People throng to this temple as it is a 'Swayambhu Roopam – Self- manifested'. And, according to Hindu Puranas, it is believed that Self - Manifested temples are very powerful.

Recent Developments…

Earlier it was very difficult to reach this place. But now as per increasing crowd to the temple the cave is electrified and air-conditioned. Many multi-purpose halls, rooms, parking space, overhead tanks were arranged.

How To Reach There…

There are multiple buses from all major cities to Bidar. One can reach Bidar through train also. From Bidar, it is 6.7Km. So, one can reach this temple with local bus facilities.
