The West Indies cricket team stormed to set a new world record and rewrote the cricket books in the history of the world record by scoring an opening partnership of 365 at Clontarf Cricket Club Ground in Dublin on May 6. This is the highest opening partnership for the first wicket posted by the JohnCampbell (179) and Shai Hope (170) against Ireland in the limited overs cricket.

With the result, the Windies men registered the 196-run victory over Ireland in overseas condition and they are ready to play their second game against Bangladesh in the same ground on May 7 (Tuesday).

Earlier, the Ireland captain William Porterfield won the toss and took a wrong decision to chase the target in the tri-series match. The opening batsman John Campbell played a starring role for the visitors as he scored 179 runs in just mere 137 deliveries with 15 huge fences to the ropes and 6 mammoth punches over the rope. The pinch hitters were trapped by Barry McCarthy in the 48th over.

Another opening batsman Shai Hope slammed the in-experience Ireland bowling attack with his mind-blowing knock as he scored 170 runs. His 152-ball innings was studded with 22 beautiful boundaries and 2 huge hits into the stands.

The wicketkeeper-batsman and the 25-year-old John Campbell forayed 365-run stand for the first wicket partnership. The Caribbean openers break the highest run partnership created by the Indian women team batswomen Punam Raut and Deepti Sharma, who scored 320 runs against Ireland in 2017. However, both these players failed to beak a highest ever partnership (372) created by the West Indies' batsmen Chris Gayle and Samuels against Zimbabwe in 2015.

Finally, West Indies scored 381 runs with the loss of 3 wickets in their quota of 50 overs. Barry McCarthy bagged 2 wickets while Mark Adair picked a wicket.

In reply, Ireland were bundled out for 185 runs in 34.4 overs. It was a remarkable day for Windies cricket team as their top order batsmen carved an ODI record of 46 boundaries. The only thing they disappointed the world cricket freaks was they failed to go beyond the 373-run for the world record partnership.
