Ajinkya Rahane played very valuable innings against West Indies on day 1 in the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Thursday. Ajinkya Rahane along with KL Rahul and Hanuma Vihari contributed their role in the first innings. It's not an easy turf to bat on day 1 as India lost 25/3 in 8 overs.
Earlier, Windies captain Jason Holder won the toss and asked India to bat first. India went with 6 batsmen, 2 all-rounders and 3 bowlers.
Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul started the innings very slowly as Mayank Agarwal got out for 5 runs in Kemar Roach's bowling. The first drop batsman Pujara (2) was also out in the same over. Run-Machine Virat Kohli (9) started the innings aggressively, but unfortunately, he was trapped by Gabriel at 3rd man region.
On the other side, KL Rahul played slowly to steady the innings. KL Rahul along with Ajinkya Rahane stitched 68-run stand for the fourth wicket partnership. KL Rahul scored 44 runs in 97 balls with 5 hits to the green field. The right-hand opening batsman played the very useless shot as he was trapped by Roston Chase in the 35th over.
Hanuma Vihari joined with vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and forayed 82-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Hanuma Vihari made 32 runs in 56 balls with 5 hits to the fence. Hanuma Vihari was out in 55th over. The middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane is the only player who hit the half-century for team India.
The Mumbaikar scored 81 runs in 163 balls with 10 beautiful boundaries before being bowled by Gabriel in the 60th over. At the end of the 69th over, Rishabh Pant (20) and Ravindra Jadeja (3) are at the crease. Rain spoiled the play sport and almost 21 overs were washed out.
Kemar Roach claimed 3 wickets, Shannon Gabriel picked 2 wickets and Roston Chase bagged 1 wicket.
