The attacking middle-order batsman is the first Indian player who registered his name in the books of cricket to score tons in all the formats of the game. While batting, he only thinks about ropes and clears the field with swashbuckling big shots. His daring & dashing attitude with aggressive batting action is a delight to watch.
Today's poster boy “Suresh Kumar Raina” is celebrating his 32nd birthday. He was born on November 27, 1986, in Uttar Pradesh. On his birthday, let's celebrate this event with some of his on-field action moments.
With a perfect timing to play intelligent shots, Raina is one of the best examples in the Indian team. Raina has done a lot of hard work in the first class cricket, at a very young age of 19. The middle-order batsman managed to catch the eye of the Indian selectors and made his international ODI debut on July 30, 2005, against Sri Lanka. However, the aggressive left-hander scored 5615 runs playing in 226 ODI matches, including 5 100s and 36 50s.
Unlike ODIs, he played only 18 Test matches and made 768 runs. After 5 years of his ODI debut, he got a chance in the longest format of the game against Sri Lanka. And the southpaw hit a century in his first Test match played at Colombo. The 32-year-old is the 12th batsman to hit a ton on his debut match.
This T20 specialist made his T20I debut against South Africa on December 1, 2006. The southpaw played 78 T20I matches and has 1203 runs in his kitty, which includes 1 ton and 5 half tons with a batting average of 29.16. His glorious century came against South Africa 101 ( 60b, 9*4,5*6) in the 2010 T20 World Cup. The 32-year-old is the 1st batsman from Indian team to hit a century in T20I.
Raina is a needy off-spin bowler, who can provide crucial breakthroughs during crunch situations. Apart from batting and bowling, UP-born-batsman is an electrifying fielder and has taken 100 ODI catches and is 4th in the list of highest number of catches from India (Only Azharuddin, Sachin and Dravid have taken 156, 140 and 124 respectively).
The birthday boy has an amazing track record in the cash-rich league (IPL), with a solid strike-rate of 138.58. Suresh Raina is the key player for CSK and he scored 4985 runs in 176 matches, including 1 century and 35 half-centuries with a batting average of 34.38. The CSK batsman hit a century against Kings XI Punjab in the 2013 IPL edition.
We, EeYuva wish Suresh Raina a wonderful Happy Birthday.
