Pakistan ended their World Cup campaign with a victory over Bangladesh but they didn't qualify for the semis due to net run rate. Shaheen Afridi's brilliant bowling display and Imam-u-Haq's fantastic century helped Pakistan to crush Bangladesh by 94 runs at the Lord's Cricket Ground in London on Friday night. Pakistan won the toss and decided to set the target in their last group stage fixture against Bangladesh in the ongoing World Cup.
Pakistan have retained the same playing XI from their previous game while Bangladesh have gone with 2 changes, Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan were replaced by Sabbir Rahman and Rubel Hossain.
Pakistan got off to a slow start as they scored 23 runs for the opening wicket partnership. Fakhar Zaman scored 13 runs in 31 balls with 1 beautiful boundary.
Another opener Imam-ul-Haq hit an astonishing hundred as the left-hand batsman made 100 runs in 100 balls with 7 beautiful fours.
The No 3 position batsman Babar Azam made 96 runs in 98 balls with 11 hits to the rope before being out in Saifuddin's bowling.
Imam-ul-Haq along with Babar Azam added 157-run partnership for the second wicket. Imad Wasim made 43 runs in 26 balls with 6 hits to the rope and 1 hit above the rope. Remaining all other batsmen failed to hit a huge score on the board.
Pakistan managed to score 315 runs with the loss of 9 wickets in their quota of 50 overs. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman scalped 5 wickets while Mohammad Saifuddin bagged 3 wickets and Mehidy Hasan chipped a wicket.
Chasing a target of 315, Bangla openers started the chase on a bad note as both the openers were out for a low score. Tamim Iqbal made 8 runs while Soumya Sarkar scored 22 runs.
The No 3 slot batsman Shakib Al Hasan was the top scorer in the game as he made 64 runs in 77 balls with 6 beautiful boundaries before being out in Shaheen Afridi's bowling.
Rahim (16), Liton Das (32), Mahmudllah (29) and Hossain (16) have failed to chase the target on a throughout the surface. Shaheen Afridi bowled brilliantly through out the match as he collapsed Bangladesh batting line up with his mixed deliveries.
Bangladesh got all-out for 221 runs with the loss of 10 wickets. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi bagged 6 wickets, Mohammad Amir scalped 1 wicket, Wahab Riaz snared 1 wicket and Shadab Khan picked 2 wickets.
