Indian junior sailors clinched 5 medals including three golds, a silver and a bronze in the Oman Sailing Championship 2018.
Ritika Dangi won gold in the Optimist class, while Uma Chauhan got bronze in the same race. In the Optimist class boys' race, Ashish Vishwakarma clinched gold and Neel Anand won the silver. In the Laser 4.7 Class, Satish Yadav bagged the gold medal.
Indian CNS (Chief of Naval Staff) Admiral Sunil Lanba and President of the Yachting Association of India (YAI) RK Dhowan congratulated the team for their achievement.
"These 13 to 16-year-old sailors are the future Olympic medal hopes for the country," said Admiral Lanba.
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is looking after the training and the overall grooming of these young sailors with an eye on a podium finish at the Olympics. Dedicated training has been imparted to these young under 16 sailors by the YAI.
