The rain came in Delhi Daredevils' (DD) way as the visitors lost to Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 10 runs via the Duckworth-Lewis method (D/L) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 11. Smarting from a humiliating defeat at the hands of SRH in their first game, Rajasthan Royals celebrated their first victory in the 11th edition of the Indian Premier League on Wednesday.
After a 2-year ban, Rajasthan Royals returned to their home place with a 10-run win over Delhi in the rain-hit game in Jaipur. Let us have a look at the highlights of the 6th IPL encounter between RR & DD.
Gautam Gambhir won the toss and sent Ajinkya Rahane & Co to bat first in the 6th IPL match.
Rajasthan Royals played with 5 batsmen, 3 all-rounders and 3 bowlers while Gautam Gambhir led Delhi Daredevils played with 4 batsmen, 4 all-rounders and 3 bowlers.
Rajasthan Royals Innings
RR openers Ajinkya Rahane and D Arcy Short started the innings on a steady note, but D Arcy Short failed to support his partner for long as he was run-out in the 2nd over with barely 6 runs on the board.
Incoming batsman Ben Stokes once again failed to bat freely as he scored just 16 runs. Inform batsman Sanju Samson along with skipper Rahane moved the scoreboard steadily. Ajinkya Rahane scored 45 runs in 40 balls with 5 beautiful boundaries while Sanju Samson scored 37 runs in 22 balls with 2 boundaries and 2 sixes.
Rahane and Samson established the 62-run stand for the 3rd wicket partnership. Both batsmen were out in Nadeem's bowling. The wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler scored 29 runs in 18 balls with two 4s and two 6s.
The hosts scored 153 runs with the loss of 5 wickets in 17.5 overs and the match was called off due to rain. Nadeem picked 2 wickets while Boult and Shami chipped a wicket each.
Delhi Daredevils Innings
After play resumed, Gautam Gambhir and his boys were set a target of 71 runs in 6 overs as per D/L method.
Colin Munro and Glenn Maxwell started the chase on a wrong note as the left-hander Munro was run-out in the very first ball of the innings. Glenn Maxwell scored 17 runs in 12 balls with 2 fours and 1 six and he was trapped by Laughlin.
With higher run rate, Rishabh Pant and Chris Morris smashed the Delhi bowlers with boundaries but Rishabh Pant was trapped by Jayadev Unadkat in the fifth over.
Delhi Daredevils needed 25 runs to win in the final over. Chris Morris and Shreyas Iyer could only manage to score 14 runs and lost the game.
RR: 153/5 in 17.5 overs (Rahane 45, Samson 37, Buttler 29; Nadeem 2/34).
DD: 60/4 in 6 overs (Rishabh Pant 20, Maxwell 17, Morris 17; Ben Laughlin 2/20).

The next IPL match will be played between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad on April 12.
