Xiaomi's Redmi brand which has a large pie in the mid-range smartphone segment is foraying into the laptop space. Alongside Redmi K20 series, Redmi launched its first laptop, RedmiBook 14 which is known to be the great performer that comes in an affordable price range.
When it comes to the features of RedmiBook 14, it sports 14-inch full HD IPS display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and all thin-bezels that make the device look trendy. The 8th gen Intel Core i7 processor (i5 and i3 variants are also available) that is coupled with Nvidia GeForce MX250 GPU emanate faster performance and rich graphical abilities. The 8GB RAM and 512GB of solid-state drive (SSD) are just enough to work on multiple high-end applications simultaneously. Further, RedmiBook 14 comes with a battery that runs the device for 10 hours on a single charge.
In terms of design, with 1.5kg weight, 17.95mm thickness and all-metal chassis, the laptop is just comfortable to carry around. Also, its full-sized keyboard with 19mm wide keys and key travel distance of 1.3mm is designed to offer tactile feedback. The touchpad gets multitouch gesture support. To cope up with the thermals, the underneath of keyboard is equipped with two vents.
The other highlighting features of RedmiBook 14 include Intelligent Unlock 2.0 that takes just 1.2 seconds to unlock the device, new cooling system with inlet area of 2530mm & large diameter fan to have excellent heat dissipation, DTS audio support to emanate rich and noise-less audio, etc.
Price/Availability: the base variant (Intel i5 processor) with 256GB SSD storage is priced at CNY 3,999 (Rs 40,300 approximately) whereas the 512GB SSD model comes at CNY 4,299 (Rs 43,300 approximately). The high-end variant (Intel i7 processor) with 512GB SSD at CNY 4,999 (Rs 50,400 approximately)/ Pre-orders start from June 1, 2019 in China and sales begin from June 11, 2019.
