After launching Snapdragon 845 exactly a year back, Qualcomm now announces the new version of its Snapdragon chipset named Snapdragon 855. The new generation mobile processor will appear in the most flagship 5G smartphones of 2019 and offer improvised performance.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 features the fourth generation, multi-core Qualcomm AI Engine, with up to three times the AI performance compared to its predecessor Snapdragon 845.
The company also revealed that the new chipset would feature the world's first Computer Vision (CV) ISP that enables phones recognise objects and faces and power new video capture features.
As said earlier, Snapdragon 855 is based on 7nm manufacturing process unlike Snapdragon 845 and 835 which are on 10nm manufacturing process, so, smaller circuits show up improved efficiency in terms of performance, battery, processing ability, etc.
The other interesting features of Snapdragon 855 is its support to Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor which reads users’ fingerprints through the glass screens, Qualcomm Elite Gaming, AR & VR enhancing features, etc.
