HMD Global that makes and sells Nokia branded phones on December 10 launched Nokia 8.1 in India for Rs 26,999. It is an Android One smartphone, which means it will have the latest Android version and regular security updates. Nokia 8.1 which is essentially the global variant of the Nokia X7 that was launched in China in October comes with features such as PureDisplay screen technology with HDR 10 support and Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset.
In terms of specifications, Nokia 8.1 sports 6.18-inch Full HD+ display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio & HDR10 video playback and runs Android 9.0 Pie. The screen now gets 2.5D curved edges with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection around.
Also, the dual rear camera - '12MP main sensor' with dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX363 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, OIS, and '13MP secondary sensor' (for portraits) with f/2.2 aperture and ZEISS Optics - captures super-detailed photos both in day and night.
Not just the standard ones, selfies too turn out amazing on Nokia 8.1! The 20MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture and pixel binning technique (combines four pixels to form 1.8μm large pixel) emanates sharp selfies with saturated colours. The complementing AI beauty and portrait Mode, 6 AI studio lights, AI expressions and new dual-view mode ensure vibrant photos.
Faster 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, expandable up to 400GB and 3500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support are the other features of Nokia 8.1.
"We've seen great success in the value flagship category with each of our smartphones in this class introducing new premium experiences to our fans. With the Nokia 8.1, we are pushing the boundaries in this segment," said Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer, HMD Global.
