Lenovo's ThinkPad X1 Extreme that was first showcased at the IFA 2018 has been finally launched in India. Today, the company has unveiled it in the Indian market revealing that it is the first in its portfolio to sport NVIDIA discrete graphics which has all advanced multimedia and gaming abilities suitable for any data-intensive workloads.
Moving to the details of the laptop, it's the design facet that initially attracts the users a lot. Its ultra-thin yet a sturdy body that has been tested against 12 military-grade requirements and 200 plus quality checks in different extreme conditions is perfect for all workspaces from home to office and to coffee cafes. It also best complements all the hard-core gamers in offering longer gaming sessions with its new aluminium alloy bottom that throw out heat generated and always puts the device cool. Also, the laptop gets four layers of reinforced carbon fibre on the top along with a special layer that absorbs shocks.
When it comes to the other features, ThinkPad X1 Extreme comes with two screen options, one with 15.6-inch UHD 4K touch screen with 3840 X 2160 resolution and the other with 5.6-inch Full HD IPS antiglare non-touch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution and runs 8th gen Intel Core i7 processor that is coupled with Intel UHD Graphics 630 and Nvidia GeForce GTX1050Ti 4GB GDDR5 GPU that ensure smoother gameplay and accurate graphic rendering. The accelerated performance of the graphic card used is absolutely perfect for enjoying high-end games on leading virtual and Mixed reality headsets like Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, etc.
Further, the 6GB RAM and 1TB SSD ensure latency-free multitasking. With 80WHr battery that offers 15hrs of run time on a single charge and equipped with Rapid Charge technology - powers up 80% of battery in just 1hr-, you can have enhanced working sessions boosting the overall productivity.
For audio freaks, the spill-resistant ThinkPad X1 Extreme is packed with Dolby Atmos (for headphones), Dolby Audio Premium, noise-cancelling technique and far-field microphones. Whereas, video enthusiats get Dolby VisionTM HDR to stream top-notch content with intricate colours, increased brightness & enhanced contrast.
The other connectivity options include two USB Type C ports with Thunderbolt 3, two USB 3.1 ports, SD card port, headphone & microphone socket (combined), Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, etc. Smartcard fingerprint sensor, Windows Hello, ThinkShutter camera cover, lock slot, TPM 2.0, etc., are some security options.
Price/Availability: i5 variant with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD costs Rs. 2,00,000 approximately. I7 variant with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD is priced at Rs. 2,05,000 approximately, whereas the i7 variant with 16GB RAM and a 1TB SSD is priced at Rs 3,00,000 approximately. i9 variant that was announced at IFA 2018 hasn't yet revealed.
