With 5G connectivity has been mainstreamed… it is no exaggeration to say that 5G smartphones take a big leap in the mobile market in a month or two. It's known that loads of smartphones were in works for a few years which are slowly hitting the shelves now! Some of them are seen at the on-going MWC 2019 happening in Barcelona and they include 'Mate X 5G' foldable device and 'Mi Mix 3 5G' from Huawei and Xiaomi respectively.

Huawei's Mate X 5G Foldable Device

Just a week after Samsung launched its foldable device, 'Galaxy Fold', Huawei introduced its Huawei Mate X 5G foldable device with the thinner form factor, bigger screen, etc. Will Mate X 5G turns competitor to Fold?? Shoulders raised! Well, here go the features of Mate X 5G.

  • 8-inch OLED FullView Display with 2480 x 2200 resolution and 8:71 aspect ratio (when unfolded)

  • 6.6-inch display with 1148 x 2480 resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio (front side) (when folded)

  • 6.38-inch display with 892 x 2480 resolution and 25:9 aspect ratio (back side) (when folded)

  • EMUI 9.0 on top of Android 9 Pie

  • 7nm multi-mode 5G HSilicon Kirin 980 processor with world's first Huawei Balong 5000

  • Mali G76 GPU

  • 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage

  • Triple camera setup - 40 MP (Wide Angle Lens) sensor + 16 MP (Ultra Wide Angle Lens) sensor + 8 MP (Telephoto lens) sensor

  • Fingerprint sensor (integrated in the power button)

Just like Samsung Fold, Huawei's Mate X 5G also makes multi-tasking possible. But unlike Fold which runs three different apps, here you can work on only two different apps (on two screens) at the same.

When the device is folded, the main screen or primary screen (screen on the front) allows you to click selfies or share what's going on your primary display with a person on the other side.

In tems of design, Mate X's fold is set backwards and the hinge is not installed exactly the midway point as the one side of the display when bent back fits into the aluminium chassis that houses a vertical camera (Leica). Also, the ultra slim and ultra compact body with glossy finish make the handset look damn fantastic.
