On the first day of Computex 2019 trade show, ASUS announced ZenBook Pro Duo (UX581) that features a 14-inch secondary 4K LCD touch screen which Asus calls it 'ScreenPad Plus'. ScreenPad Plus which works seamlessly with the main screen lets you optimise and personalise your workflow.
And thanks to the built-in ScreenXpert software that offer a wide selection of apps, tools and utilities which allows users to enjoy the efficiency benefits of ScreenPad Plus. For instance, to move an app from secondary display to the primary one, just drag it by the title bar that reads out three options - Switch screens, Extend and Snap. Then you need to hover your cursor on the 'switch screen' which moves the app to the other display.
Similarly to have easy interactions with the main and secondary displays, there are few other controls like 'App Switcher' that launches apps on ScreenPad Plus, 'ViewMax' maximises your viewing experience, 'Task Swap' switches the position of opened apps, 'Task Group' customises app group and open multiple apps with one tap, 'App Navigator' to view all open apps on ScreenPad Plus, 'Organiser' sorts out the apps on the screenPad Plus into three blocks and 'handwriting' to jot down notes in a more natural way, etc.
Well, this is not the only attracting feature, the laptop has still more to note. ZenBook Pro Duo sports 15.6-inch 4K OLED touchscreen (main screen) and is powered by eight-core 9th Gen Intel Core i9 processor which is coupled with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics bring up unrivalled portable power. The 5GHz Turbo Boost frequency makes the laptop screens handle multiple apps effortlessly.
Backed by Windows 10 Pro, the dual-screen laptop comes with 8GB/16GB/32GB 2666MHz DDR4 RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB PCIe storage and 62Wh 8-cell rechargeable Li-Polymer fast charging battery pack that charges 50% of battery in just 15 minutes.
When it comes to the design, the ultra-slim bezels on the four sides make the laptop modern and light in weight. The spun metal finish and the mirror-finished diamond-cut edges add a fantastic look to the device. With the presence of secondary screen, the keyboard is completely moved down and trackpad has been moved to the right of the keys.
The interesting facet of the trackpad is it can double up as a NumberPad. It is LED illuminated and enabled with the simple tap on the numberpad icon sitting on the top-right corner of the trackpad. Well, even when the numberpad is activated, the trackpad can still be used to control cursor!
On the connectivity front, ZenBook Duo (UX581) comes with two USB-A ports, full-sized HDMI port, one Thunderbolt 3 (USB C) port, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0, IR web can with Windows Hello, far-field microphones with Alexa and Cortana support, Intel Wi-Fi 6 with Gig+ performance (802.11ax), etc.
Alongside ZenBook Duo (UX581), the company also unveiled the 14-inch ultra-portable variant, ZenBook Duo (UX481) which features frameless four-sided NanoEdge FHD display and an FHD ScreenPad Plus. It's powered by an Intel Core i7 processor and a GeForce MX250 GPU.
