TVS Launches Ethanol Powered Bike In India

The new ethanol-powered Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 comes equipped with the 200cc single-cylinder engine that delivers 21 PS power and 18.1 Nm torque. TVS claims that the bike ensures improved drivability, throttle response and reduced emissions by using twin-spray-twin-port EFI technology. Coming to bike it looks similar to its siblings. Ethanol is domestically produced from renewable plant sources. It is non-toxic, biodegradable and safe to handle, store and transport. An oxygenated fuel that contains 35 per cent oxygen, ethanol reduces nitrogen oxide emissions from combustion. It helps reduce carbon monoxide emissions, particulate matter and sulphur dioxide. The government also believes the use of ethanol as a fuel will also reduce dependence on the import of petroleum and increase energy security.
