British passenger car maker MG Motor, who is all set make a debut into the Indian market, has launched its much awaited MG Hector, India's first internet car with a starting price of Rs 12.18 lakh. MG is offering Hector in four variants - Style, Super, Smart and Sharp.
The company is also offering 5-year unlimited km warranty and 5-free services as part of after sales. The Hector further offers prepaid maintenance plans starting as low as Rs 8,000 for the first three years.
The Hector comes with three engine options - petrol, petrol Hybrid and Diesel. The petrol is available in both 6-speed manual and automatic (DCT- Dual Clutch Transmission) transmissions. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 143PS power and 250Nm of torque while the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine delivers 170PS power and 350Nm of torque.
The ARAI approved fuel efficiency figures for both petrol and diesel with the petrol Hybrid MT returning 15.81kmpl and diesel 17.41kmpl. The Hector is also the first car in its segment with a sophisticated mild-hybrid architecture that uses a 48-volt lithium-ion battery to store energy and provide extra torque assistance of up to 20Nm.
The car gets 10.4-inch HD touchscreen infotainment featuring MG's iSMART technology with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity options. Additionally, the car features ever seen segment first connected features such as music apps, voice assistant system, Internet-based entertainment and real-time navigation.
It also comes with LED daytime running lights, Internet Inside badge at side and rear, 17-inch alloy wheel, massive black front grille, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, cruise control, electrically adjustable front seats and heated ORVMs. Front parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear recliner seat, flat rear floor, rear AC vents, 4-way electrically adjustable co-driver seat are the top spec features of the car.
Coming to the market rivalry, the car competes with the likes of Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Creta. MG has received 10,000+ bookings since its pre-orders began on June 4. Deliveries to customers who have pre-booked the MG Hector have been slated from the first week of July through its network of 120 centres across India, which the carmaker aims to expand further to 250 centres by September this year.

MG India has also tied up with Myles to offer the Hector on a subscription basis in select metro cities including Delhi, Mumbai & Bangalore over the next quarter.
