Maruti Suzuki Ertiga Gets In-house Developed Diesel Engine

Maruti Suzuki's popular MPV Ertiga comes equipped new in-house developed diesel engine. The new 1.5-litre DDIS 225 Diesel engine with 6-speed manual transmission delivers 95PS power and peak torque of 225Nm with a fuel efficiency of 24.20kmpl.

Maruti is offering new diesel engine NextGen Ertiga in three variants – VDi, ZDi and ZDi+ at a price of Rs 9.86 lakh, Rs 1069 lakh and 11.20 lakh, respectively. The new DDIS 225 engine on Next Gen Ertiga uses ‘Dual Mass flywheel’ that helps to reduce engine fluctuations and smooth driving experience.

Sharing his thoughts on Maruti Suzuki’s new offering, R.S. Kalsi, Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India said, “Considering the requirements of evolving customers, the NextGen Ertiga is now offered with the new 1.5-litre Diesel engine. The new engine is a perfect combination of performance and refinement. It showcases Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to providing products aligned with customers aspirations. We are sure this new engine option will strengthen the popularity of Ertiga in the urban MPV segment.”

Popular among Indian buyers, Maruti Suzuki’s Next Gen Ertiga is one of the best-selling MPVs. With 39 per cent of market share, it emerged as a leader in the segment. Launched in November 2018, the stylish Next Gen Ertiga became an instant hit with customers selling over 40,000 units in Nov-April period. This reflects a growth of over 150% compared to the same period last year.
