India's First Internet Car, MG Hector Unveiled

British car maker, MG Motor has unveiled much awaited MG Hector aka Internet car in India before its official launch in next month. MG is making a debut into the Indian market with Hector. It is the first internet car with 50+ connected features and 19 exclusive features.

With internet inside, the next-gen i-SMART technology in the Hector promises to deliver safe, connected and fun experiences with first in segment 10.4-inch HD touch screen infotainment. The Hector comes with ever seen segment first connected features such as music apps, voice assistant system, Internet-based entertainment and real-time navigation.

The Hector will also be the first car that comes with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system helps to store energy and provide extra torque assistance of up to 20Nm when required. The 48V mild hybrid technology is the latest global environmentally friendly engine technology that enables a reduction in petrol engine emissions.

MG Hector Internet Car Launched In India

The Hector will be available in both petrol and diesel engines. The 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 143PS power, 250Nm torque and will be available in both manual and automatic transmissions. Its 2.0-litre diesel engine will deliver 170PS at a peak torque of 350 Nm, with best-in-class fuel efficiency. The petrol engine is available in both 6-speed manual and auto (DCT- Dual Clutch Transmission) transmission while the diesel gets an only manual transmission.

With a 587-litre boot space, Hector is the biggest in the segment. The 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear recliner seat, flat rear floor, rear AC vents, heated outside mirrors, 4-way electrically adjustable co-driver seat are the top specs of the car. Internet Inside badge at side and rear, 17-inch alloy wheel, massive black front grille, slim DRLs, automatic headlamps, LED tail lights and advanced safety features as standard.

The Hector bookings will be commenced from June first week at its widespread network of 120 outlets across 50 cities. It is expected to be priced between Rs 15 - Rs 20 lakhs. The car competes with the likes of Tata harrier, Jeep Compass, Mahindra XUV300 and Hyundai Creta.
