Harley-Davidson has unveiled its electric motorcycle LiveWire globally at Oregon, USA. It is the first fully electric bike in the Harley-Davidson global product line-up. The bike made its debut at EICMA 2018 & CES 2019. The production version unveils event, Harley has revealed its specifications and announced price that costs $30,000 (Rs 20.50 lakh).
The LiveWire is powered by a new electric motor called as Revelation drivetrain located below the battery and it generates 105 PS power, 116 Nm of torque. It also comes with a high-voltage 15.5 kWh lithium-ion battery with a travel range of 235 km on a single charge. The bike also accelerates 0-100 km in just 3-seconds with a top speed of 177 kmph.
The battery can be charged easily with any standard household outlet and get a full charge overnight (12.5 hours). For fast charging, it needs a visit to DC charging station which can be can be charged 80 per cent in 40 minutes and 100 per cent in one hour. The bike also gets seven ride modes - Sport, Road, Rain, Range and three custom modes. It is also equipped with ECC (Electronic Chassis Control) System which manages cornering-enhanced Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System (TCS) and Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS).
The LiveWire also gets 4.3-inch TFT display keeps the rider with up to date information like speed, range, battery status and locating nearest charging station. Integrated with Bluetooth connectivity, it also enables the rider to operate music, navigation, telephone, alert information and voice recognition.
The LiveWire also gets 300mm disc at the front and 260mm at the rear. Coming to the suspension, fully adjustable front USD fork and fully adjustable rear monoshock by Showa. Harley is the first global premium bike manufacturer who has launched full electric motorcycle into the mainstream market. The launch of LiveWire is a massive shift in the motorcycle industry and the company believes that it will revolutionise the global motorcycle market to electric.
