The American premium motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson has launched the 2019 edition of Forty-Eight Special and Street Glide Special in India at a price of Rs 10.98 lakhs and Rs 30.53 lakhs, respectively. The Forty-Eight Special is the new edition in the Harley-Davidson's Indian portfolio and the Street Glide Special replaces the previous model.
Along with technical changes, the new Forty-Eight Special gets a few cosmetic updates such as new graphics on the fuel tank, tall boy handlebar and fat wheels. It is powered by a 1202cc evolution engine that delivers 96Nm of torque and mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The other model Street Glide Special gets Milwaukee-Eight 114, V-twin 1863cc engine that churns out 163Nm of torque and mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Additionally, the bike features 6.5-inch touch screen infotainment where a rider can access phone calls, messages, navigation and many more.
The new Forty-Eight Special comes into India via CKD route whereas the Street Glide Special comes in via CBU route. Indian Scout Sixty and Triumph Bonneville Speed Master are the competitors for Forty-Eight Special and the Street Glide goes against to Honda Gold Wing, Indian Chieftain, Moto Guzzi MGX-21 and BMW K1600 GTL.
