Maruti Suzuki has launched Big New WagonR into the Indian market which is bigger, wider and lighter than its predecessor. Since its launch in the year 1999 in the Indian market, WagonR is appearing among the top ten best selling cars. Almost two decades later Maruti has made major updates to its tall body to keep the existing and new customers in the same family.
Here EeYuva presents you the in-detailed review of Big New WagonR.
Most of the auto experts call it as boxy design and is not fun to drive but surprisingly the car has made bog for its maker. To erase that stereotype image, Maruti has built its 3-rd generation WagonR under 5-generation HEARTECT platform where Swift, Ignis and the recently-launched Baleno were developed.
Modern Architect Grille, Dual-split Headlamps, Fog lamps and Electrically Retractable ORVMs with side indicators add new styling to the front portion of the car. Rear tail lamps look similar as Volvo XC series tail lamps and chrome finish Boot lid, new bumpers (front& rear), give prominent look to the car. Sharp edges, wheel arches and floating roof witness that the new WagonR gets real-time styling compared to its predecessor.
The first thing that catches inside the car is redefined cabin, 7-inch SmatPlay Studio infotainment and integrated gear liver. The SmartPlay Studio infotainment with navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Support allows passengers to surf news, gets the latest weather report and locates nearest eateries. Largest leg room, head room, updated instrument cluster, steering with audio and phone controls, 60:40 split seat for rear seat passengers and best-in-class 341-litre boot space are the other features of Big New WagonR.
Maruti is offering WagonR in two petrol engine options - 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre K- series with a fuel efficiency of 22.5kmpl and 21.5kmpl, respectively. The 1.0-litre engine delivers 68Ps power, 90Nm torque and the 1.2-litre engine delivers 83PS power, 113Nm torque. The 1.2-litre engine is mated to 5-speed manual & Auto Gear Shift (AGS) transmission whereas the 1.0-litre engine is paired to 5-speed manual transmission only.
The Big New WagonR gets ABS with EBD, dual front airbags and parking sensors standard in all variants.
Maruti is offering it in five different variants. With a starting price of Rs 4.19 Lakhs for VXI (1.0L) variant, its price goes up to Rs 5.69 lakh for ZXI AGS variant. Apart from the above-mentioned, Maruti has dropped a few things that were offered in the previous model such as adjustable headrests and side cup holders. Leaving such simple things aside, the new Big New WagonR is simple yet modified and worth buying for the middle-class people who are looking for a simple and stylish family car.
