Kona Electric Engine
It is powered by a 39.2 kWh battery that generates 136PS power, 395Nm of torque and it is mated to a single-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai claims Kona can accelerate 0-100kmph in just 9.7-seconds and it can travel up to 452km on full charge certified by ARAI. Kona Electric features four drive unique drive modes - Eco, Eco+, Comfort and Sport. Kona's Regenerative Braking System recharges the battery every time when you apply a brake.
Kona Electric gets two charger - portable charger and AC wall box charger. The Portable charger can be plugged into any normal 3 Pin 15 Amp socket and it can top up daily running of 50Kms in less than 3 hours. The 7.2kWh AC Wall Box charger can top-up charge the vehicle within 1 hour for running 50Kms and 0-100 per cent charging in 6h 10m.
The South Korean electric SUV gets redesigned front portion. This includes closed grille, charging port, bumper-mounted split type headlamps and upper part positioned LED DRLs with side indicators.
Electrically adjust and folding heated ORVM, 17-inch alloy wheels and LED tail lamps are the additional exterior features of the car. Though Hyundai claims Kona as SUV, it looks similar like Hyundai's hatchback i20 in the side profile also gets two clusters on top and bottom.
The Kona Electric new dashboard and interior design quality are top-notch. It has a 7-inch touch screen with smartphone connectivity (Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Voice recognition), navigation and steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls. Electrically adjustable, ventilated and heated front seats, Smart electric sunroof, Wireless charging, Digital instrument cluster, Tyre pressure monitoring system are other key features of Kona.
Kona Electric Safety
Hyundai is offering world-class safety features as standard in Kona. This include - 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Management, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Electric Parking Brake and Virtual Engine Sound System for pedestrian safety.
At an affordable price tag and advanced features, Kona Electric is not expensive but when compared to petrol and diesel engines, yes it is a bit smaller. Its futuristic design elements make it stand apart from other e-vehicles. Overall Kona Electric is genuinely impressive as far as its driving capabilities concern and practicality.
