Rowan Sebastian Atkinson – beloved comedian, screenwriter and star of movies like “Bean” and “Johnny English” - turned 62 today. Here's look at the successful career of this everyone’s favourite comedian on his birthday.

Rowan Atkinson, born in Consett, County Durham, England, is best known for playing 'Mr. Bean' in the very successful 1997 comedy drama “Bean” and also as 'Captain Edmund Blackadder' in the BBC sitcom “Blackadder”. With 'Bean's mega success, there is no turning back for Rowan, who's slowly but steadily acquired the status of a comedy legend.

The comedy star started his television career with BBC's sketch comedy show “Not the Nine O' Clock News” (1979–82), for which he received the British Academy Television Award for Best Entertainment Performance.

Throughout the late 70s, 80s, and 90s, however, Rowan made a huge name for himself as a good comedian. He has become so influential today that even 'The Observer' voted him as one of the fifty funniest actors in British comedy.
