Bollywood is the top film industry in the world in terms of the number of releases each year. Besides the equation of hits and flops, Bollywood has always been surrounded with controversies irrespective of actor, actress, director or producer.
Most of the films have to undergo some sort of controversy or the other at the time of pre-release or post-release.

Directed by Bejoy Nambiar, the movie showcases Amitabh Bachchan as a paralysed person who is a grandmaster in chess. At the time when the movie was having a fair run at the box office, several controversies surrounded the crime-thriller. The Disabled Rights Group (DRG) issued a statement and demanded an apology from the director for disgracing physically disable people. The movie came out from controversies soon, as the director apologised.
Not only inspiring to watch, the thriller was also a blockbuster. Though critics opinioned that the movie based on the largest air evacuation in history lacked reality and facts, the audiences gave a big thumbs-up after watching the movie.
Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3
Touted as an adult comedy, “Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3” was initially banned by the censor board and later approved with almost 34 cuts. According to the reports, the film was banned due to its extreme vulgarity and controversial acts in it.
This biopic film is based on the life of Pan Am air hostess Neerja Bhanot. She died in a process of saving several passengers on a hijacked flight in 1986. Starring Sonam Kapoor as the main lead, the movie has been criticised by a close associate of Neeraja, claiming that the movie displayed some false events about her. Later the director involved and reported that the information in the film was true and reliable.
The bold look of Shahid Kapoor and impressive acting from Alia Bhatt was something worth watch in the movie. But "Udta Punjab" was surrounded by many controversies during the time of its pre-release. Initially, the board members didn't agree to the request of minimising the number of cuts in the movie. But after a long trial, the movie managed to release with minimal cuts.
The biopic on the former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin got into controversy for showing cricketer Ravi Shastri as a womaniser. The former cricketer lost his cool for portraying him in such a character and has reportedly approached cricket authorities to seek into the issue.
Akshay Kumar starrer “Rustom” was criticised in social media for having a lot of flaws in the uniform of the lead actor. Akshay was shown as a Navy officer in the movie. His look with a moustache became a big source of controversy.
The movie which was in the mind of Ashutosh Gowariker since a decade finally ended with controversies due to the lack of proper information regarding the history of Indus valley civilisation.
