Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, a young lawmaker of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Ladakh made one of the fiery speech in the Lok Sabha during the discussion on key bills on Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday (August 6).
With his outstanding speech, Namgyal received a lot of praise from within BJP's top leadership and several other Lok Sabha MPs. Even Lok Sabha speaker OM Birla appreciated the passionate speech made by the young parliamentarian. He became an overnight sensation on social media and received a lot of applause from around the country.
Jamyang Tsering Namgyal (34) popularly known as JTN, a first time Lok Sabha member, was born in Matho village on 4 August 1985. He completed his higher secondary education from Central Institute of Buddhist Studies and later graduated from Jammu University.
He comes from the largest Lok Sabha constituency in the country in terms of area wise. But the number of voters in the constituency is only 1.59 lakhs. He defeated Independent candidate Sajjad Hussain in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections with a margin over 10,000 votes.
He earlier served as Councillor in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh and also as J&K state media secretary of BJP.
During the speech in the Lok Sabha, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal criticized Congress and also the two main regional parties National Conference (NC) and People's Democratic Party (PDP) for neglecting Ladakh region and not doing enough when they are in power.
He said if Article 370 is abolished only two families will lose their livelihood and Kashmir will have a bright future. He talked about the sentiments and aspirations of people from Ladakh and said they have struggled for 71 years to make Ladakh a Union Territory.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to applaud the MP, “My young friend, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal who is @MPLadakh delivered an outstanding speech in the Lok Sabha while discussing key bills on J&K. He coherently presents the aspirations of our sisters and brothers from Ladakh. It is a must hear!.”
