Karnataka Cabinet Expansion: 17 MLAs Took Oath As Ministers

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Tuesday inducted 17 MLAs as ministers in the first phase of his cabinet expansion. State Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the oath to the legislators as ministers at Raj Bhavan.

The MLAs who took oath as ministers are: Govind Karjol, C N Ashwath Narayan, Laxman Savadi, K S Eshwarappa, R Ashoka, Jagadish Shettar, B Sreeramulu, S Suresh Kumar, V Somanna, C T Ravi, Basavaraj Bommai, Kota Srinivas Poojari, J C Madhu Swamy, Chandrakantagouda Patil, H Nagesh, Prabhu Chauhan and Jollie Shashikala Annasaheb. Jollie will be the lone woman in the cabinet.

Of the 17, 16 belong to the BJP and one, H Nagesh, is an Independent MLA from Mulbagal assembly seat.

The 76-year-old BJP leader sworn-in as Chief Minister on July 26 following the collapse of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government.
