Imagine, sipping a hot cup of tea with some crispy puff or freshly baked cookies on a chilly evening in winters! Isn't that a 'perfect' sign-off to a long hectic day?

But, how many of you know that today is 'International Tea Day'. What? Is there such special day for tea? Yes, you heard it right. Let's celebrate the special occasion by devouring a variety of teas at home to get out of the routine…

Lemon Grass Tea

A cup of tea is a combo of milk and tea powder. Have you ever tasted the tea made without milk and tea powder? You might have never! Then, try this simple and tangy flavoured tea prepared within no time sans milk and tea powder…

Ingredients You Require

  • A few strands of lemon grass

  • Palm jaggery/ Brown sugar

  • A pinch of salt

  • ¼ tsp black pepper powder

  • 1 tsp of lemon juice

  • Water as required

Method

  1. Boil the required water in a bowl.

  2. Meanwhile, crush and chop the lemon grass into pieces.

  3. Add the lemon grass pieces, brown sugar, salt, black pepper powder to the boiling water and let it boil for 15 minutes to extract the flavour.

  4. Strain the water into a cup and add the lemon juice.

Ahhh! What a flavour? Enjoy each sip of hot cuppa…

Rose Petal Tea

Ingredients You Require

  • 1 tsp orange rind powder

  • 1 tsp green tea leaves/ 1 green tea bag

  • 1 tsp dried and crushed rose petals

  • Honey/ sugar as per your taste

  • Water as required

Method

  1. In a kettle, mix the orange rind powder, green tea leaves, crushed rose petals with required water and bring it to boil on stove top for 4-5 minutes to extract the flavours.

  2. Strain the flavoured water in a cup and add sugar or honey.

Ingredients You Require

  • ¾ cup milk

  • 2 cups water

  • 4 tsp flavoured tea powder (As per your choice)

  • Sugar to taste

  • 1 small piece ginger

  • 2 cardamom pods

  • 2 cloves

  • 1 small piece cinnamon

  • 3 mint leaves

Method

  1. Chop the mint leaves and grate the ginger. Crush the cardamom, cloves and cinnamon using motor and pestle.

  2. Boil 2 cups of water in a saucepan. Add the chopped mint, grated ginger, tea powder, crushed spices to the boiling water and let it boil for 2-3 minutes on medium flame.

  3. Now, add the milk with stirring and let it boil for few more minutes on low flame. Finally, add the sugar and stir it well till dissolves.

Finally end the day on a good note with authentic 'Masala Chai'…
