Well! Today is the 'International Hummus Day' where people around the world celebrate it by devouring various hummus cook-ups. And on this special day, we EeYuva is here with the basic preparation of hummus. Have a look at the recipe here...
Ingredients You Need
2 cups chickpeas
4 garlic cloves
½ cup tahini (sesame seeds paste)
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp olive oil
Paprika or red chilli powder for garnishing
Salt to taste
Soak the chickpeas overnight and drain the water.
Pressure cook the chickpeas with fresh water for 4-5 whistles. Wait until the pressure goes off. Save the chickpeas cooked water for blending the chickpeas.
Preparation Of Tahini
Dry roast a cup of sesame seeds. Blend the sesame seeds with required olive oil till the required texture is formed. Save this in an airtight glass container and refrigerate it to increase the shelf life.
Method To Prepare Hummus
Blend the chickpeas, tahini, salt, lemon juice, garlic cloves, a tbsp of oil along with little chickpeas cooked water into a fine paste.
Dish out the paste into a bowl and spread it evenly with a spatula.
Finally, pour in the olive oil and garnish with a pinch of paprika over hummus.
Refrigerate the hummus bowl and take it out before serving. Don't forget to drizzle a little olive oil over the hummus before you serve.
