Sushi! The Japanese culinary sensation where most of the top restaurants all over the world are serving this popular dish. You might have wondered that why this raw fish dish has that much craze? It's not only because of its unique taste but it also owns myriad health benefits it possesses.
Yes! You heard it right. The ingredients - fish, seaweed, vinegar in sushi promotes various health benefits like weight loss, hormones regulation, cancer prevention and many more to mention.
Well! Today on the occasion of International Sushi Day, we EeYuva have come up with a basic Sushi recipe that one should try on this special day. Here we go!
Ingredients You Need
Sushi rice - ¾ cup
Water - 2 cups
Salt to taste
Thinly sliced cucumber - 1 medium
Thinly sliced avocado - 1
Thinly sliced red or green capsicum - 1 medium
Thinly sliced salmon fillet - 1 small
Castor sugar - 1 tsp
White wine vinegar - 1 tbsp
Sushi seaweed/ Aka nori sheet - 1 (cut it into two)
Soy dip or soy sauce to serve
Pickled ginger to serve
Bamboo mat or parchment paper or plastic wrap
Note: You can add your desired ingredients onto the rice like cheese, asparagus, etc.
Preparation Of Sushi
Heat the water in a bowl and add sushi rice, salt to taste and give it a quick stir. Cover and let it cook until rice becomes soft and sticky.
Dish out the rice into another bowl and add castor sugar, vinegar and stir it well.
Now onto a bamboo mat, place a nori sheet. Wet your hands with some water and take a handful of rice and place it on the nori sheet and spread it evenly. Make sure that you leave some space on the top of the sheet.
Then assemble 2-3 cucumber slices, avocado slices, capsicum slices, salmon fillets on the centre of the rice.
Now gently fold the bamboo mat and roll tightly; then unwrap the bamboo mat. Follow the same for the remaining.
Now cut the rolled sushi using a sharp knife into pieces.
Viola! Your 'Sushi' is ready to serve now. Have it with your desired dip, either with soy sauce or pickled ginger.
