You might have tasted various types of South Indian style fish curries all these days. But have you ever tasted the Kerala style fish curry? It's just amazing and believe us, it will definitely spellbind the fish lovers with its scrumptious taste. And we bet, after looking at the recipe, you will try it for sure because you can't control your cravings over it. So, without any delay, let's have a quick look into the recipe...
Fish fillets - ½ kg; Grated coconut - ½ cup; Tamarind - medium lemon size; Onions - 3 small; Tomatoes - 2 medium; Chilli powder - 1 tbsp; Mustard seeds - 1 tsp; Cumin seeds - ½ tsp; Fenugreek seeds - ¼ tsp; Coriander powder - 1 tsp; Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tsp; Turmeric powder - ½ tsp; Curry leaves - 2 sprigs; Coconut oil - as required; Salt as required
Clean the fish fillets and take them into a plate. Soak the tamarind in sufficient warm water for about 30 minutes and squeeze the juice and discard the waste. Chop the tomatoes and onions. Blend the coconut along with little water into a fine paste and set it aside.
Method To Prepare Fish-Coconut Curry...
Heat the oil in a wok and saute the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds for a while. Add chopped onions and fry them till translucent, then add tomato pieces and allow them to cook until they become soft.
Now, add ginger-garlic paste and mix it well until the raw smell goes off. Then, add the spices (chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder) along with little water and bring them to boil.
Add tamarind juice and salt. Once it comes to boiling, add fish pieces and let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
It's time to add coconut paste and gently mix it well. Let it cook on low flame until the fish pieces become tender and get the required consistency.
Take it off the flame and enjoy the delicious Kerala style 'Coconut-Fish Curry' with hot, steamed rice in this chilled weather...
