'Biscuit Day': 2 Home-Made Biscuit Recipes To Try Out On This Special Day...

Biscuit! The popular tea time snack all over the country. Yes! Right from the children to elders, everyone love to munch them. The reason why we are discussing about the biscuit is, tomorrow i.e, May 29th is the 'National Biscuit Day'. And, being a biscuit lover we should not miss this special day.

So, let's celebrate this crazy day by baking some delicious, crunchy biscuits and enjoy with our loved ones. Here we EeYuva have doled out 2 simple yet amazing biscuit recipes for you. One is the healthy 'Ragi Biscuit' and other is the Hyderabad's special 'Osmania biscuit'. Have a look!

Ragi Biscuits

Ragi biscuit! A healthy tweak to your regular biscuits. Have a look at the recipe here...

Ingredients

  • Ragi/ Finger millet flour - ½ cup

  • Whole wheat flour - ½ cup

  • Powdered sugar - ½ cup

  • Butter - ½ cup (not melted)

  • Baking powder - 1 tsp

  • Milk as required

  • Vanilla essence - 1 tsp

Preparation Of Ragi Biscuits

  1. Heat a pan and roast the ragi flour until you get a nice aroma and take it off the flame.

  2. Now into a bowl add roasted ragi flour, whole wheat flour, seived powdered sugar, butter, baking powder, vanilla essence and mix them well.

  3. Now add required milk and mix it well into a smooth dough. Wrap this dough in a plastic wrap and freeze it for 10-15 minutes.

  4. Thereafter, take out the dough and roll into thick and cut it into roundels or your desired shape.

  5. Now arrange these biscuits in a greased baking tray and bake them for 15 minutes at 180ºC.

The yummy and crunchy 'Ragi Biscuits' are ready to have now...

Osmania Biscuits

Osmania biscuit! The Hyderabadi special biscuit which most of the people go gaga over them because of their magical taste. So, give them a try on this special day...

Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 gm

  • Butter - 120 gm

  • Powdered sugar - 80 gm

  • Milk - 20 ml

  • Custard powder - 10 gm

  • Milk powder - 10 gm

  • Cardamom powder - ¼ tsp

  • Baking powder - ¼ tsp

  • A pinch of saffron and a ¼ cup of warm milk

  • A pinch of salt

Preparation Of Osmania Biscuits

  1. Into a bowl add butter, sugar, milk and mix them well with a spatula.

  2. In another bowl, add all-purpose flour, custard powder, milk powder, cardamom powder, a pinch of salt, baking powder and mix them well.

  3. Now add this flour mixture into the butter mixture and mix them gently into a smooth and soft dough and set it aside for 10-15 minutes. Meanwhile, prepare the saffron milk by combining the saffron and warm milk in a bowl and set it aside.

  4. Now roll the dough by dusting some flour into a thick one and cut it into roundels using any round shaped lid.

  5. Arrange them on a greased baking tray and pour the saffron milk over the cookies until they are nicely coated well. Then drain the milk and bake the cookies for 15 minutes at 180º C.

That's it! The melting Hyderabad special 'Osmania Biscuits' are ready to serve now...
