Method To Prepare Basbousa Cake
Mix semolina, vanilla essence, baking powder and baking soda in another deep bottomed bowl. Let us melt the butter at room temperature.
Now, add sugar-buttermilk mixture and butter to semolina mixture and stir them well to get a lump-free batter. Pour the batter in a greased baking tray and spread it evenly with a spatula.
Bake it for about 25-30 minutes at the same temperature. Take it out from the oven and let it cool for some time. Pour the sugar syrup over the baked cake and leave it for a few more minutes to absorb the syrup.
Cut it into diamond or square shape and garnish each piece with blanched almonds before serving.
