Indian Actors Who Made A Comback Despite Their Downfall

Most of us feel that the filmdom is a place where all the celebrities have an incredible and colourful life garnering name, fame and what not! As they say, never come to a conclusion having a look at one side of the coin, there are many struggles behind the actors' success and charisma. Though they are successful, they undergo stress and just one wrong step will pull their career down. Some celebrities have ruined their careers with their devastating nature, be it due to drug addiction, alcohol consumption, health issues, extra-marital affairs or any other reasons.

Right from Sanjay Dutt to Manisha Koirala and Bobby Deol to Honey Singh confessed their wrongdoings, which costed their careers. Yet the most important thing they have done is, they realised the reality and fought back like warriors and made successful comebacks.

We EeYuva collated a few actors and actress who had gone through such phase and bounced like a ball after hitting the wall.

Sanjay Dutt

Let's start with Sanjay Dutt. The bad boy of Bollywood has gone through worst phases in his life be it his connection with the underworld, drug addiction, love life etc. At one point, there was a buzz that the Kalnayak actor's career came to an end as he was sentenced to sixteen months of imprisonment in 1995. But with the help of his father Sunil Dutt's charisma as a politician, Sanju Baba got bail and started his film career and gave numerous films to the industry and audience as well. Currently, the actor is busy with at least six projects that include Kalank, Shamshera, Prasthaanam, etc. Also, a biopic on him titled Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role is releasing on June 29.

Bobby Deol

Being the son of a great actor Dharmendra, Bobby Deol made his debut with the film Barsaat in 1995 and became an overnight star. Later, he had some decent hits in his kitty, but life will not be the same forever. Making this saying true, Bobby's career soon became an empty bottle. The Soldier actor lost his stardom due to his inability in sustaining the success. Bobby who is playing the pivotal role in the upcoming Salman starrer Race 3 had confessed the reason for his downfall in an interview. He admitted that he was addicted to alcohol and lost physical fitness too. He also said that Salman Khan is the reason for his re-entry into films.


As we all know, the legendary South Indian actress had earned a huge success and stardom at the box office. She turned alcoholic when her career was at peak due to the failed relationship with her husband Gemini Ganesan. The Mahanati then recovered from the problems and several issues and made her comeback into films doing some supporting roles and heroine-oriented films as well. But soon lost her life due to some health problems that arose due to the deadly alcoholic habit she once had.

Manisha Koirala

The Nepali beauty Manisha Koirala well known for her scintillating performances had made her mark in Bollywood with numerous hit films. After two decades of her successful career, the cute and bubbly girl addicted to alcohol due to her troubled marriage and then suffered from ovarian cancer in 2012. After a successful treatment, the actress once again came into limelight with the films Chehere: A Modern Day Classic and Dear Maya in 2015. On the career front, Manisha is roped in for Sanjay Dutt starrer Prasthaanam which went on floors recently and she will be also seen in his biopic titled Sanju as Nargis Dutt, Sanjay's real mother.

Yo Yo Honey Singh

Termed as Rockstar, singer Honey Singh who rendered numerous songs in the Bollywood has also acted in a few flicks in cameo roles. But the “Angreji Beat...” singer got addicted to drugs and alcohol and was sent to the rehabilitation centre to get cured. The singer had made his comeback after the treatment and is now entertaining his fans with double the energy.

Arvind Swami

Arvind Swami who is regarded as the epitome of handsomeness has also done drugs and alcohol, courtesy, his father's demise, failed marriage and a fatal accident he met with. Yet the Roja actor made his re-entry into films with the help of director Mani Ratnam after six years with the film Kadal in 2013. Now he is busy in Kollywood and is getting ready to don a new feather to his cap as a director.

No one is perfect, we all make mistakes, but one who realises and transform themselves is the real hero.
