The Kollywood actor Suriya celebrates his birthday today (July 23). The fans of this South star are going crazy on the social media wishing their favourite actor by trending #HappyBirthdaySuriya on Twitter.

Suriya who owns a huge fan base across India, especially down south is a phenomenal actor and is Director's favourite. His discipline and hardwork along with the film choices he made all these years made him the star he is now!

EeYuva wishes Suriya A Happy Birthday and decodes the Directors and the Films that helped him become a South-Indian Super Star. Here goes the list, read on.

Bala- Nandha and Pithamagan/Shiva Puthrudu

Director Bala is the one who resurrected the dull career of Suriya and brought him to lime light with award winning films like Nandha (2001) and Pithamagan (2003). These two films have given awards and Box Office collections making way for a smmother journey for Suriya in Kollwood.

Gautham Menon- Kaakha Kaakha, Vaaranam Aayiram

Director Gautham Menon gave the biggest blockbuster of Suriya's career with 'Kaakha Kaakha' then. This film made him a youth icon in the films and has become a star hero over night. Later on Gautam Menon made 'Vaaranam Aayiram' (2008) a semi biopic of the director himself in which there goes a spin off shades in the protagonist in which Suriya excelled. Producers made a beeline at his residence and from then biggest Directors too wished to direct him.

Mani Ratnam- Aaytha Ezhuthu/Yuva

The Student Leader character in Mani Ratnam's phenomenal hit film 'Aaytha Ezhuthu' (2004) gave him a wide spread recognition across South India and paved way for a bigger market for his upcoming movies. Suriya's acting in 'Aaytha Ezhuthu' became a reference for Ajay Devgn who essayed the same role in Hindi 'Yuva'.

AR Murugadoss- Ghajini and 7Aum Arivu/7th Sense

AR Murugadoss's medical action thriller 'Ghajini' (2005) made him a further big star and joined the league of A-listers and audiences started comparing him to stalwarts Vijay and Ajith. The movie gave him national attention when Aamir Khan remade the film in Hindi. '7aum Arivu' (2011) on the other side gave Suriya an identity as content backing actor.

Audience and fans wait for a film in these combos anytime soon, so is the love towards these filmmakers and the actor. Suriya of late is awaiting the release of high octane action drama 'Kaappaan/Bandobast' directed by KV Anand.

Happy Birthday Suriya
