The 24th edition of the prestigious European Union Film Festival-2019 that toured the length and breadth of India covering cities like Chennai, New Delhi, Goa, Pune, Puducherry, Kolkata began in Hyderabad with a formal inauguration ceremony at Sri Sarathi Studios-Ameerpet on 21 August evening. The event started with the cultural treat of Kuchipudi and Bonalu dances of the Shiridi Sai School Children which enthralled the guests and audience alike.
The event was graced by film fraternities like Paruchuri Brothers, Film Producer Dr Prithvi Chawan, European Embassy Incharge Agne Sakalauskaite, MSRV Prasad, The Chairman of Sri Sarathi Studios, Film Directors Relangi Narasimha Rao, Veera Shankar and Hyderabad Film Club authorities.
The programme went as per the schedule and on the first-day organisers have screened the Lithuanian film 'Ashes in the Snow' directed by Marius A Markevicius, produced by an Indian Dr Prithvi Chawan who said that he got fascinated with the cultural similarities of India and Lithuania. The film is an adaptation of NewYork best selling novel Between Shades Of Grey by Ruta Sepetys.
Hyderabad Film Club Vice President Syam GK has requested the film lovers to be on time for the screenings and enjoy their love for World Cinema and particularly European Union Films in Hyderabad from 21 August to 31 August. The organisers would screen two films daily with English subtitles. The EU Film Festival would tour Kozhikode from 27-29 August and thus end the 24th edition in India.
