After portraying the larger than life role in his recent flick Padmavat, Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor is all set to play a boy next door in his upcoming film Batti Gul Meter Chalu sharing screen space with Shraddha Kapoor.

The Udta Punjab actor who shared the new poster yesterday is on cloud nine as the trailer of the film got unveiled. Touted to be a comedy drama, the film focussed on bringing the social issue of electricity shortage to the notice of people and to encourage authorities to investigate the inaccuracies of the electricity bills.

The trailer opens up with a power cut in the village and there on the people get fed up with the prevailing situation of power cuts and the huge electricity bills incurred by the authorities. The whole scenario leads to the suicides of the poor families.

In this disastrous situation, the protagonist (Shahid) takes the issue to the court of law to fight against the problems of the people. Will he succeeds in getting the justice forms the crux of the story.

Shahid Kapoor's chemistry with Shraddha who associates him in his fight with the authorities is laudable, while Yami Gautam is good as a lawyer.

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, the film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Nitin Chandrachud, Shree Narayan Singh under T-Series banner and has music by Anu Malik while the camera is handled by Anshuman Mahaley.

The flick is slated to release on September 21.
